We are doing a little snazzing up of the website in preparation our upcoming big events. I will be adding some social media integration, a handy calender, some great articles and blog posts by our members, a list of our members, and some nifty technical contact forms etc etc.

The idea is to create a buzzing community around the issues we all care about. Stay tuned!

Next Steps

Saturday, June 9th there will be a planning potluck to brainstorm ideas for our next BIG event. At the potluck we will continue the collective brainstorming that be began on May 5th, with the intention of deciding on the next BIG idea for us to rally around. Also, we may decide to create working groups to take on various initiatives and plan different events. The potluck will be held at the residence of Quint David, located at 175 Ridgewood Drive, right off of Queen Street. Bring your favorite foods to throw on the grill and any delicious sides you like. Beverages to share are also encouraged. The potluck will start at 6pm and continue for as long as people would like to stay. Bring your ideas and be ready to get inspired!

Once again thank you all for attending the milestone event on May 5th that has kicked off what is shaping up to be a powerful social movement for local sustainability solutions. We want to send a special thank you to all of our sponsors (listed bottom right) as well as the local organizations that came out to table and share information about the great work that they’re doing. We look forward to working more with High Country Local First, Appalachian Voices, VegBoone, Climate Action Network, and the Appalachian Institute for Renewable Energy. With so many movers and shakers in our town, we should be able to accomplish some remarkable things!

Ideally we would love to see a core group of organizers emerge from this list over the summer to collaborate on launching a well-coordinated, high-profile publicity campaign to spur recruitment starting in the Fall. Boone Climate Movement needs YOU! Fortunately we have been able to assemble a small group of committed change-agents to get things started… but we look forward to working with climate rock stars like you!
